One button to merge all duplicate contacts Official Gmail Blog

yes, so a day after I finished spending 4 hours merging each of my contacts in google, one by one (whittling my contacts from 1000+ to 600ish), of course google releases the one button to merge all duplicate contacts option. seriously!?!?

quoted: Managing a big address book can be a challenge, so it's no surprise that the top request for Google contacts is a fast, easy way to merge duplicate contacts. You've been able to merge contacts one-by-one for a while, but now we've added a single button that merges all your duplicate contacts at once. To clean up your contact list in one fell swoop, just click the "Find duplicates" button in the contact manager, review the merge suggestions (and uncheck any suggestions you don't want merged), and hit the "Merge" button.

Beck's latest bigoted rant targets India and Indian-Americans | Media Matters for America

bigoted rants from glen beck are the norm, i know. but just because they are the norm doesn't mean we should ignore and let them slide. this is sickening. seriously sickening.

quoted: Thus, within the span of a few minutes, Beck implied that there are no quality medical schools in India; implied that medical care in India is a shoddy imitation of real health care; implied that the entire nation is an undeveloped backwater without even so much as indoor plumbing; and compared the Ganges River, a holy body of water for one of the world's oldest and largest religions, to a disease.

Raising Vegetarian Children - Motherlode Blog - NYTimes.com

the annoying thing about the following is that I was raised vegetarian and the only people who made me uncomfortable were the meat eating kids who made fun of me. perhaps tolerance needs to be taught in those homes rather than expecting that vegetarian kids eat highly processed fake meat options...

The experts she quotes strongly suggest that parents allow some leeway, such as “allowing kids to eat meat at friends’ houses or restaurants or packing snacks and lunches that look like chicken nuggets or hot dogs but are actually made from soy or wheat gluten.”

on the mayoral race in Seattle... this is truly the game changer:

Broadhead (winning candidate consultant): And this campaign was an eye-opener for me. If you gave me the choice, next cycle, of having the vote of the immigrant and refugee community in Seattle … and having, basically, the downtown checkbook, that would be a no-brainer for me. The immigrant and refugee committee … delivered votes for us.

This reminded me a lot of thanksgivings growing up - we'd bring Indian food to our friends' house, they'd have the turkey - we'd all enjoy the festivities. And, I really like this quote - which has been said in different ways by many and always rings true: The people leaving the country that they love take a picture of that country and then they bring that picture with them and they raise their children in the vacuum of that picture.

What happens is that the country evolves but that picture never does, so there's an interesting dynamic that occurs where you - transplanted first generation child often time is more in tune with the older traditions of the country that your parents left than the people who are actually living there at that time.

Quoted: Thanksgiving is perhaps the most American holiday; for immigrants, the feast is often a fusion of old and new culture. Chef Michael Psilakis talks to Renee Montagne about what he will be putting on his Thanksgiving table. He's the chef of the New York restaurant Anthos and author of a new cookbook, How to Roast a Lamb.

is there a lower cost way to make a frame system like this? I'd like one but I can't find one that is long enough to really fit the wall that I'd like to put it on.

Quoted: Modern glass picture frames hang from a bar by sturdy cable wire. Create your own collage.

    lots of good ideas here.

Quoted: For cooks, most Thanksgiving problems are brought about by the number of dishes competing for the stove. The best solution is to make food in advance.
