    Interesting article.

Quoted: Where do resveratrol and the Sirtris drug SRT501 fit into the larger picture of anti-aging treatments and life extension? If they work then they probably work by slowing down aging the same way that calorie restriction does. The interest in the Sir1 and similar genes comes from studies on calorie restriction's effects on gene expression in yeast and rodents. But we do not know for sure that calorie restriction will increase human life expectancies.

    Air Purifiers Make Smog

I was checking out the digg clone called ShoutWire this morning, and came across this interesting article.

I know a few friends who run ion based purifiers, and I just recommended one to my brother who is having allergies in DC. Apparantly those devices give off Ozone!

Quoted: "These machines are insidious," said Barbara Riordan, acting chairperson of the California Air Resources Board (ARB), in a warning last year. "Marketed as a strong defense against indoor air pollution, they emit ozone, the same chemical that the ARB and … U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have been trying to eliminate from our air for decades. More chilling is that some people susceptible to the ill effects of ozone will eagerly bring these Trojan horses home."
