ROADTRIP : MONTANA : Yellowstone National Park

info on old faithful geyser located in yellowstone national park.

eruption can shoot 3,700 - 8,400 gallons of boiling water to a height of 106-184 feet lasting from 1.5 - 5 minutes (wow).

The mathematical average between eruptions of Old Faithful is currently 74 minutes, but it doesn't like to act average! Intervals can range from 45-110 minutes. Visitors can check for posted prediction times in most buildings in the Old Faithful area.

tried to look up to see if they had hours for yellowstone - it doesn't seem to have any (on the site). they do have various closures depending on time of year.

    ROADTRIP : MONTANA : 551.68 Miles

hmmm - by what wikipedia says the main areas of attraction are as follows.

    > Glacier Nation Park (slightly longer detour - but has more cities along the way - not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing)
    > Battle of Little Bighorn (i really don't care bout this spot)
    > Yellowstone National Park (would be a minor detour - most of it is in Wyoming)

other random bits of info :
it's got a shit ton of mountain ranges - thus the name is derived from the spanish word montaña meaning mountain.

state is ranked fourth in size but has a relatively low populartion with very low density (doh! wonder what the nite life is like there).

hmm - looks like the main things to do in this state is to look at the mountains and check out the parks.
