    Amazon.com: Requiem for a Dream (Director's Cut)

just finished watching requiem for a dream. it's like a stylized drug movie. what i mean by that is it's like trainspotting and the basketball diaries - but it's very stylized. the visuals are great and the use of sound / visuals which are shown fast and in quick succession showing drug use reminded me a bit of pi.

i later found out that it's the same director! how sweet is that. i love pi and i really enjoyed this movie as well so i'm glad that Darren Aronofsky (the director) is still making movies.

fyi - this movie has drug use / sex / and as most drug movies - everyone going to shit. why you might want to check it out? because it explores various types of addiction, not just drugs - and the visuals are pretty darn cool.

    Amazon.com: Kissing Jessica Stein

just finished watching this great movie. had heard bout it but for whatever reason didn't get around to watching it. then saw a trailer for it in another movie and decided to add it to my netflix que and glad that i did.

it's a lovely story - which apparently started out as a play - then was converted into a screen play by Jennifer Weslfeldt and Heather Juergensen who played the two leading roles in the play - who also play the leading roles in the movie.

apparently it was produced by the two ladies as well. it's a great funny story about two women - one whose sexually adventurous who wants to 'experiement' and another whose just tired of meeting all the wrong men and want to shake things up.

especially enjoyed the fact that the movie tried to be honest bout relationships in general. what i mean by that is that they tackle various relationship issues - sex, homosexuality, communication, how it affects family and friends etc... it's a smart movie with funny moments.

overall, i liked the movie in that it's core (imho) is that you should be open to people - regardless, and that from it perhaps you'll grow as a person and be able to grow and become better. yes - cheesy i know, but that's what this movie is. it's a romatic comedy with brains and heart.
