Four Square Fatigue and the Evolution of Privacy - VentureBlog

Quoted: Over the last few weeks I've started to suffer from Four Square fatigue. After all, Four Square is a lot of work. To get the benefits of Four Square, you need to proactively check in wherever you go. And, while each checkin requires a relatively small amount of work, in the aggregate, it takes real effort to make the most of the Four Square experience.

IIS 7 Error Pages taking over 500 Errors - Rick Strahl's Web Log

Ran into this problem where IIS intercepts and overrides my error responses.

Quoted: There’s a solution to this problem with the deftly named TrySkipIisCustomErrors property on the Response object which is tailor made for this particular scenario.
    ...
In a nutshell this property when set to true at any point in the request prevents IIS from injecting its custom error pages. This flag is new in ASP.NET 3.5 – so if you’re running 2.0 only you’re out of luck.

    Learning Photoshop...

Quoted: In this article, I showcase a method to create "smooth rounded corners" in Photoshop. By no means is this the only way to accomplish the effect, but it is one method I discovered recently, and it is fast.

    Cake Financial Acquired By E*Trade

Quoted: Social finance company Cake Financial has just been acquired by E*Trade.
    ...
It’s worth pointing out that the acquisition appears to center on Cake’s team and technology rather than its user base — rather than absorbing Cake’s users into E*Trade...

Open Source: Facebook Is Now an Apache Software Foundation Gold Sponsor

Why is Microsoft a platinum sponsor of the Apache Software Foundation?

Quoted: Facebook just announced that it has become a Gold sponsor of the Apache Software Foundation. According to Facebook's David Recordon, the company wants to give back to the open source community that allowed Facebook to develop and contribute to projects like the Thrift framework, Hive, memcached and Cassandra. Apache Gold members donate $40,000 per year to the project.
    ...
It's worth noting that this is not Apache's highest sponsorship level. Google, Yahoo and Microsoft are platinum sponsors and give $100,000 per year.

What's going on with OAuth? - O'Reilly Radar

Quoted: Judging by the original "Simple OAuth" moniker, the goal behind WRAP was not to confuse developers or compete with OAuth. The intention, rather, was to promote OAuth and increase long term adoption by offering an SSL variant. Therefore, if you're building a new API today and are trying to decide between deploying OAuth 1.0a or OAuth WRAP, nine times out of ten you should continue deploying OAuth 1.0a.
