Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood: Books: Marjane Satrapi

i am coming to the realization that children's books are the best books. persepolis is currently my favorite. it's the tale of a young woman growing up in iran during the late 70s and early 80s, throughout the revolution and the iran-iraq war. it's fuck sweet, sad, happy, glad, etcetera, all at once.

and they made a movie too! i don't know if it's out in the u.s. yet.

Buffy the vampire slayer - First Episode

The first episode of buffy the vampire slayer: the best place to start.

Quoted: In every generation there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness. She is the slayer.

chris jordan photography: running the numbers

Quoted: This new series looks at contemporary American culture through the austere lens of statistics. Each image portrays a specific quantity of something: fifteen million sheets of office paper (five minutes of paper use); 106,000 aluminum cans (thirty seconds of can consumption) and so on. My hope is that images representing these quantities might have a different effect than the raw numbers alone, such as we find daily in articles and books. Statistics can feel abstract and anesthetizing, making it difficult to connect with and make meaning of 3.6 million SUV sales in one year, for example, or 2.3 million Americans in prison, or 426,000 cell phones retired every day. This project visually examines these vast and bizarre measures of our society, in large intricately detailed prints assembled from thousands of smaller photographs.

I saw this guy read these poems and a few others from his collection titled "Hammer" at Tsunami Books in Eugene a few years back. I like his poems.

"He is the son of a Presbyterian minister. He received a Masters in Poetry from Boston University at age 47, otherwise, he has spent 25 years working construction and building houses. He lives and works in Berkeley, California."

Stage6 · David Lynch - Six Men Getting Sick - Video and Download

The first thing Lynch ever committed to film. There is also "The Grandmother," "The Alphabet," and the "Lumiere" piece from David Lynch's "Short Films" collection to be had on Stage6.

OKAY SCRATCH THAT. The other ones are in piss poor quality, though I haven't tried "THe Frenchman", nor "The Grandmother." But this one is good.

p.s., just saw lost highway for the first time tonight. hmmmm...definitely the scariest of his films...that's all i know for sure at the moment.

Quoted: Watch & Download David Lynch - Six Men Getting Sick Videos by Azrael77 at Stage 6: A place for people who love video to post videos, share videos, download and watch streaming videos. David Lynch - Six Men Getting Sick Download available or stream the entire Clip.
